This list will not really be about my personal opinion (as I don't like a few on these wbsites on this list). I've asked around for a few of these answers so lets' see how things go.
You can read this link for the top 500: http://www.alexa.com/topsites (but let's make our own list!)
10. Blogger
No, I'm not sucking up, a lot of people actually use this site. It's not quite as popular as the others that will be listed, but it's still up there. If none of you know, it's a place where you can create your own blog (like I have done).
9. Flickr
I don't actually know HOW popular Flickr is, but I know it's up there in the ranks, along with PhotoBucket (which is not on this list). From knowledge, you can upload pictures and chat with others. It's Yahoo! based, as well.
8. eBay
The biggest online auction site in the world, eBay is highly used worldwide, with over 4 million active auctions (with more coming and going every couple of minutes). It's easy to see why it's on here!
7. Wikipedia
How could I not put this on here? Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia with over 2,979,000 articles in the English version alone (there are 9 other languages you can enter). Wikipedia is highly used all over the world -- most kids use it for their assignments, or, if they have Wi-Fi access, use it to cheat on their tests. Wiki is a personal favourite.
6. Twitter
Don't get me started on this website. It's one of those things that becomes an internet overnight that millions and millions of people are addicted to, when there is virtually NOTHING to do on it. A lot of celebrities have an account (no doubt only for more attention and to come back from the dead).
I didn't know whether to put this after or before Wikipedia, but because a lot of people would say Twitter is better made me put it higher on the rank. Don't have a Twitter account? That's okay. Most sane people don't.
5. Facebook
Another thing like Twitter and profile websites, Facebook is where you can upload pictures of yourself, play around with apps and make new friends. You virtually can't do much unless you are friends with the certain person. Facebook is confusing at first but you get the hang of it. One of the apps, YoVille, is rather fun to be honest.
4. YouTube
Everyone's favourite video site, YouTube, is a worldwide hit. I myself even have an account and enjoy watching numerous people make fools of themselves without even meaning to. No doubt, one of the best websites of all time. It's peckish on your downloads, though!
3. MySpace
Did you think I had forgotten about MySpace? Sadly, no. Another one of those profile sites like Facebook and Twitter, except MySpace is the most used worldwide. Tom (that guy that is always your friend when you sign up) is one lucky S.O.B. to have invented something so simple and becoming rich off of it. If anyone asks, he stole my idea...
2. Yahoo!
This covers all Yahoo! websites (the search engine, Yahoo! Answers, Yahoo! Mail, Yahoo! Finance, etc.) and it's easy to see why it's so high. Yahoo receives approximately 3.4 billion page views on average per day. It is the second most visited website in the world (hence why I put it second).
1. Google
We all knew it, so don't let it come as a shock to you. Google is labelled the most powerful brand in the world. Google is also the world's largest search engine to ever exist, with almost 20,000 employees (19,786 to be exact). The term "Just Google it" has become a common line thrown out these days -- so common that "Google" is now also considered a verb and is in the dictionary.
And that concludes the list.
